John is a Chartered Building Surveyor and member of the Expert Witness Institute. He started his career in the West End of London in the early 1970′s with Herring Son and Daw, moving to the National Building Agency in 1975, part of the Housing Corporation, under Lord Goodman. He also holds a HNC (Architecture).
In 1978 he joined Calder Ashby, then the largest firm of Chartered Building Surveyors in the world, and was responsible for refurbishment of a portion of Islington funded by Government.
In the early 1980′s he joined Conrad Ritblat, to hone commercial skills and specialised in dilapidations and construction monitoring. After a brief spell with Abbotts Countrywide Surveyors as an associate, John set up business in 1986 and this firm developed to become the present Johnson Gillies.
Since then John has been the leading force in the development of the firm, ensuring the firm provides a well rounded mixture of professional and technical input expected of building surveyors, together with a practical overview.
BSc (Hons), MRICS, MFPWS
Johnathon started his career with Johnson Gillies in 1997 and through part time study qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying, through the University of Greenwich sponsored by the Chartered Surveyors Training Trust. He is a qualified Chartered Surveyor and Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He also holds an HNC in Construction and is a Member of the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors and the Pyramus and Thisbe Club.
During his training at University, in 2001 he became part of Malcolm Hollis gaining experience in Commercial Dilapidations and Party Walls. In 2004 after gaining his degree he joined PSK Prout Tillbrook in Londons West End developing his skills in the commercial sector in Dilapidations, Design, Contract Administration and Construction before rejoining Johnson Gillies in 2007. In 2009 he became a Director of Johnson Gillies.
Trevor started his career in 1976 with Humberts, Chartered Surveyors, and after nine years, moved to Slade Parry Ltd. Trevor joined Johnson Gillies in 2007 and has developed our surveying services.
Trevor is well qualified in technical issues and holds HNC Building Studies (Building Surveying Options) and is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He has also taken additional courses of study in British Occupational Health Society Proficiency Certificate P402 Building Surveys and Bulk sampling for Asbestos and is able to provide reports for assessment.Trevor’s experience is varied and adds maturity to our team.
BSc Arch (Hons)
James commenced work at Johnson Gillies in May 2009 as a Graduate Surveyor. Before joining Johnson Gillies he worked at Plowman Craven from 2005 specialising in Commercial Geomatic land surveys notably the London Underground refurbishment and Cross Rail project before joining Whitworth Co Partnership in 2008 dealing with Historic property repair and refurbishment for English Heritage. James also has a BSc Arch (Hons) and he is now working towards his professional RICS qualification for Chartered status, completing a MSc in Surveying.
Jack joined the family business of Johnson Gillies in August 2008. He has completed a BTEC National Certificate in Construction and a HNC in Building Surveying. He has obtained a place at Anglia Ruskin University for the BSc (Hons) degree in Building Surveying.
Jack is also a keen member of the Territorial Army and served overseas with the British Army for one year.
Julie started her career in 1974 having gained medical qualifications. She has run her own consultancy for nearly 40 years, retiring in 2012. Julie took up a role as Non Executive Director of Johnson Gillies, overseeing logistics and marketing.
